A New Year, a New Look to My Website

I am not a winter person. I love it when it snows and I am inside. I only love being outside in cold weather for short periods of time. However, I can’t imagine living anywhere else. I love having four seasons (although we usually get sloppy winter instead of real spring) and the changes each season brings to the world and to my creativity.

This January, I made the decision to change my website into something new and fresh. Its primary purpose is to introduce you to my books but equally as important, it’s meant to introduce you to me so that a connection can be made between author and reader. Books are written by humans, and the human community is integral to all of us.

Markets, book fairs, and author signings are a wonderful way to meet readers, but conversations (such as this blog) help us build rapport and establish real connections. I don’t know about you, but I sure need that in today’s uncertain world.

My website is new and this is the first of many conversations I hope to share with you.

I live in north central Alberta with my husband of forty plus years. We’ve been in the same house for more than twenty-eight years. I have grown up children and young grandchildren who I absolutely adore. I love movies and books, art, writing, camping, swimming, kayaking, and delicious food. I garden – my thumb isn’t black but not quite as green as I’d like it to be. I currently write children’s picture books, contemporary romance, and poetry.

I love exploring feelings and how we deal with them. I love LOVE in all its messy applications. People fascinate me and the whys and hows of which they deal with situations helps shape my stories. My poetry is more introspective and how I’ve dealt with grief, loss and pain in my journey.

My inspiration is everywhere and, on those days when my muse is sleeping in or on an unexpected leave of absence, I read or watch movies to rebuild my creative fires. Tea, lattes and chocolate help too. I’ve never met a piece of chocolate I didn’t like!

I plan to share recipes, favourite reads, pretty photos of food, recommendations of authors I like, and pretty much anything and everything that comes into my mind.

Think of this as a lovely table by the window in your favourite cozy café, with you and I sipping yummy beverages and chatting about our day.

Can’t wait to see you!

 xo Lynn
